Betting odds have been released on a potential boxing match featuring UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and Filipino icon Manny Pacquaio for next year
Pacquiao teased his interest in a bout with the Irishman recently via a post to Instagram:
“Happy Thanksgiving! Stay fit my friend #realboxingmatch #2018@thenotoriousmma,” The eight-division world champion wrote last week.
BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion supported the company’s release of odds with a quick breakdown justifying why the ring legend is favored to beat McGregor under the Queensberry Rules:
“After Manny Pacquiao took to Instagram to tease a ‘real fight’ with Conor McGregor, we’ve released odds on the possible 2018 showdown.
“When the mega-money fight between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather was first announced earlier this year, the UFC lightweight champion was a huge 9/1 underdog to come out victorious, but his gutsy performance against Mayweather means the world will take him more seriously this time. The 29-year-old Irishman is priced at 2/1 with BetStars to upset Filipino Manny Pacquiao.
“Pacquiao recently lost his WBO welterweight title after a defeat to Jeff Horn, but is valued at 4/11 to defeat McGregor, if the fight is confirmed. Meanwhile, a draw between the pair is a long shot and can be backed at 33/1.”
Pacquiao v McGregor odds from BetStars
