UFC announced that the preliminary match at tonight’s UFC Fight Night: Jacare vs. Mousasi event between Charles Oliveira and Nik Lentz has been cancelled.
Oliveira, who missed weight by four pounds at the official weigh-ins on Thursday, was originally scheduled to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Lentz for failing to make weight and the fight was scheduled to continue as planned.
It has since been announced that the Oliveira-Lentz bout, which was a rematch from their original meeting back in 2011 that ended via controversial “No Contest” due to an illegal kick, is no longer taking place on tonight’s show. Oliveira suffered a viral infection during training and after being examined by doctors this morning, he was informed that he is not allowed to fight.
As a result, the preliminary portion of the event is now a four-fight lineup instead of a five-fight card, as there was not enough time for the UFC to find a replacement opponent for Lentz.
