Rousey On UFC 193 Loss To Holm: “I Just Feel So Embarrassed, I Wasn’t Even F*cking There”

On Monday night, ESPN SportsCenter released some additional quotes from Ronda Rousey’s first interview since losing her first pro MMA fight, as well as her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship to Holly Holm at UFC 193 last month in Melbourne, Australia.

Rousey spoke with ESPN The Magazine for their annual “Ideas of the Year” issue, which hit newsstands everywhere on Tuesday.

“I need to come back,” said Rousey, who appears on the cover of the magazine this month. “I need to beat this chick. Who knows if I’m going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open again. I have to f*cking do it. It doesn’t matter. I have to do it.”

SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt recounted some of the other comments Rousey made in the interview, noting that she mentioned being hit by a punch from Holm just 30 seconds into the fight and as a result, never felt the same afterwards.

Rousey claimed that she wasn’t thinking clearly after the shot and didn’t fully have her legs under her from that point on, but told herself everything would be fine if she just kept fighting.

“I just feel so embarrassed,” Rousey said. “How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn’t even f*cking there.”
