When the Mike Tyson-esque UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey has a fight lined up, the betting odds for the fight usually have more numbers involved than the time it takes for her to dispatch of whomever is brave enough to stand across from her inside the Octagon. Her rumored trilogy fight with Miesha Tate in December is no different, according to odds makers.
For her UFC 190 fight against Bethe Correia, an undefeated top ranked contender who had the benefit of beating multiple members of Rousey’s team, and was fighting in her home country of Brazil, Rousey was as high as an 18-1 favorite on several betting websites. As everyone knows by now, Rousey would go on to face-plant-KO Correia in just 34 seconds.
After the fight, UFC President Dana White alluded to the fact that the promotion was looking at booking a mega-card for an event at AT&T Stadium in Texas, one that would feature Jose Aldo defending his UFC Featherweight Championship against interim UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, as well as the third fight in what will likely close out a trilogy between Rousey and Miesha Tate.
Odessa.com has released odds on the Rousey-Tate III fight already, and Joey Odessa himself recently explained why they have no problem setting Rousey as an 11-1 opening favorite over the former Strikeforce Women’s Champion.
“Ronda Rousey is still every bit of the 11-1 favorite she was in 2013,” Oddessa told MMAJunkie.com. “They may bet her down to 8-1 or ever lower with the typical gambler ‘value’ argument, but there’s no value in a losing wager. Tate’s a live underdog that won’t win, as I like to call them. The third time won’t be any different.”
The big stadium event in Texas rumored to feature the Rousey-Tate trilogy bout is expected to take place in December, however it should be noted that nothing is officially signed and on the books as of right now.
