During her appearance on this week’s edition of UFC Tonight, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey admitted that her next title defense will feel like a “WrestleMania” type of event to her.
Rousey spoke about her next fight against undefeated contender and former multiple-time women’s boxing champion Holly Holm, which takes place at the Etihad Stadium in front of potentially 70,000 fans, a setting that will feel like a big WrestleMania event, WWE’s biggest annual event, which Rousey appeared at earlier this year.
“I was like, ‘That’s a whole WrestleMania,” said Rousey. “That’s as big as WrestleMania! I have to sell a whole WrestleMania by myself?!’ That’s a tall order. Now it’s so awesome to have Joanna Jędrzejczyk on the card, so that’s definitely a big help.”
Rousey continued, “It’s really encouraging to see that the UFC has so much confidence in the women that they think that we can break attendance records on our own. And, I think that we’re completely capable of it and I’m looking forward to showing the world what we can do.”
UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm is scheduled for November 15, 2015 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
