Ronda Rousey Needs Knee Surgery, Gets Stitches After 16-Second Win

UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey scored a ferocious 16-second knockout victory over Alexis Davis at UFC 175 (Results), the second-quickest knockout in UFC history. After the victory, Rousey was interviewed by Joe Rogan, who asked the champion  if she’d be willing to fill in for the injured Jose Aldo and fight again at next month’s UFC 176 pay-per-view.

Rousey announced that she probably wouldn’t be able to, since she’ll be undergoing knee surgery in the coming weeks. The fight didn’t last long enough for her to show any signs of an injury, but the knee surgery will likely keep her out for several months.

Rogan putting Rousey on the spot like that was surprising. He told Rousey that the question came from “the guys in the [production] truck” and it looked like Rogan got chewed out by UFC President Dana White inside the Octagon. Rogan’s name was even trending on Twitter after the incident. He posted this on Instagram shortly after:

“To those upset, Dana wasn’t yelling at me. He was pissed at the guys in production telling me to ask Ronda about the august 2nd fight.”

At the conclusion of the show, footage was shown of Rousey getting her hand stitched up backstage. Rogan clarified that Rousey wouldn’t be able to fight on August 2nd.
