Ronda Rousey Speaks On Rumors That Gina Carano/UFC Talks Have Died Down

Following the news that negotiations between Gina Carano and UFC have hit a wall, current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey spoke about her desire to fight the former face of women’s mixed-martial-arts. When asked who she would like to fight before she retires, Rousey told a group of reporters on Friday,

“The first women’s MMA fight I ever saw was Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie. Not only did I admire what [Carano] was doing, but also I was blown away by the reaction all the guys were giving them, and, I just remember sitting there and thinking, ‘I could totally beat both of these chicks.'”

Rousey would go on to address the rumors that negotiations between Carano and UFC have fallen flat, noting,

“Whether she ever wants to fight again or not is entirely up to her, but ever since that day when I had that first taste of women’s MMA she’s the fight I wanted.”

Rousey’s next trip to the octagon will take place on Saturday, July 5th, as she puts her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship on the line against Alexis Davis in the co-main event of UFC 175.
