On Wednesday, ESPN.com was first to report the news that former Ultimate Fighter winner Ross Pearson will be moving up to the UFC’s welterweight division (170 pounds) for an interesting fight.
Pearson, who lost to former Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks in his most recent Octagon appearance, at the UFC Fight Night 90 event this past Thursday night during UFC’s International Fight Week, will be moving up from the lightweight division to compete against longtime MMA veteran Jorge Masvidal.
Pearson will be filling in for Siyar Bahadurzada, who was originally scheduled to fight Masvidal on the fight card in Atlanta.
UFC 201 features Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley for the UFC Welterweight Championship in the pay-per-view main event. The show takes place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from Atlanta, Georgia.
