Training Partner Says Anderson Silva Didn’t Knock Him Out, Blames Globo For Bad Editing

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has been dealing with heavy criticism after a video of him knocking out a training partner and continuing to pummel him afterwards went viral on the web earlier this week, however the man on the receiving end — Douglas Moura — claims “The Spider” doesn’t deserve the criticism he has been receiving.

Moura (5-1), a member of Team Nogueira, where Silva has trained for years, recently spoke to the folks at MMAFighting.com about the controversial situation, pointing out the fact that he was not, in fact, knocked out by the knee landed by Silva.

“I wasn’t out,” said Moura. “I was just dizzy. I wasn’t out. Right after that, I recovered, got back up and we continued training. Nothing happened. No big deal.”

While Moura believes Silva does not deserve the criticism he has been receiving, he feels Globo, the Brazilian media outlet that edited the video, does.

“They didn’t do a good job with the editing,” said Moura. “That’s not what happened. We’re fighting, it happens, but when (Silva) realized I was dizzy, he didn’t punch for real. He was just touching his hand on me, giving me time to recover.”

Moura continued, “There was 2:30 minutes left in the round, and we continued training after that, but they didn’t show that on TV. It happened to me, but it also happened to him before. It’s completely normal.”

Moura continues to train with “The Spider,” who makes his long-awaited Octagon return against Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 183, which takes place on Saturday, January 31st from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and airs live on pay-per-view.
