As noted, the Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy fight is off of this Saturday’s historic UFC debut event in the state of New York due to a medical issue that Evans is dealing with that prevented the New York State Athletic Commission from allowing him to fight as scheduled.
A couple of hours after the news surfaced on a number of internet MMA outlets, UFC issued an official statement regarding “Suga” Rashad Evans being pulled from his fight with Kennedy, which was scheduled to be his debut in the UFC’s Middleweight division.
Below is the statement that the UFC released via their official website on Tuesday evening:
“The UFC organization was notified today that the New York State Athletic Commission has denied Rashad Evans a license to compete at UFC 205 due to a medical issue. Evans’ scheduled bout against Tim Kennedy this coming Saturday, November 12 in New York, will be removed from the fight card. However, both athletes will receive their show money. There are currently no plans to replace this bout.”
Featuring the “Champion vs. Champion” bout between UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez, with Alvarez’s 155-pound UFC Title on the line, UFC 205 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 12th from the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.
