The new UFC Rankings have been released in the aftermath of UFC 227. Below, you will find the changes in each division:
Women’s Strawweight: No Changes
Women’s Flyweight: Despite dropping a decision to Katlyn Chookagian last week, Alexis Davis saw herself move up one spot to #5 in the rankings.
Women’s Bantamweight: No changes
Women’s Featherweight: N/A
Flyweight: Demetrious Johnson is now the #1 contender; and of course, Henry Cejudo sits at the throne as the new champion of the division.
Bantamweight: Cody Garbrandt currently remains the #1 contender despite back-to-back losses to reigning champion T.J. Dillashaw. Brett Johns drops from #14 down to #15 following his unanimous decision loss to #9 Pedro Munhoz, who has seen no movement following his victory. Douglas Silva de Andrade has taken the position previously occupied by Johns at #14.
Featherweight: Justice is served for Renato Moicano, as he can no longer be ignored as he has skyrocketed six spots up to #4 in the rankings following his dominant first-round submission of Cub Swanson at UFC 227. Chad Mendes also continues to rise, as he now sits at #5. Meanwhile, Jeremy Stephens has dropped down two spots to #6, Swanson also dropped two down to #7, and Josh Emmett, Mirsad Bektic, and Chan Sung Jung each dropped one spot to #8, #9, and #10 respectively.
Lightweight: On the heels of the big announcement of his impending return at UFC 230 against Dustin Poirier, Nate Diaz dropped out of the Top 10 down to #11.
Welterweight: No changes
Middleweight: Thiago Santos moves up to #12 after his victory over Kevin Holland, and Uriah Hall drops down a spot to #13.
Light Heavyweight: No Changes
Heavyweight: No Changes
Pound for Pound: Boy, were there ever some major shakeups in the pound-for-pound rankings following the UFC 227 main event and co-main event results. In quite possibly one of the most drastic and shocking drops in recent history, a man who was affixed at the #1 position for ages, Demetrious Johnson, recently dropped to #2 after Daniel Cormier became the champ-champ at UFC 226. But following his razor-close split-decision loss to Henry Cejudo at UFC 227, Demetrious Johnson fell from #2 all the way down to #6! And in his place is now sits Conor McGregor. Directly beneath McGregor is T.J. Dillashaw, who soared up three spots to #3 in the rankings, knocking Max Holloway down to #4. Henry Cejudo makes his first ever appearance in the rankings at #12, which dropped Tony Ferguson and Amanda Nunes down one spot to #13 and #14 respectively.
Do you agree with the four-spot drop of Demetrious Johnson following his UFC 227 loss?
