As is custom the Monday after a UFC event, the promotion’s official media rankings have been updated. Here’s how they stand:
Pound For Pound:
Jon Jones, who returned to the rankings from his suspension last week, moved up to fourth, with Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw dropping to fifth. Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum and Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler also flip-flopped, with Werdum now at sixth and Lawler at seventh. UFC’s women’s champions switched places, as well, with Joanna Jedrzejczyk now at thirteenth to Holly Holm’s fourteenth. Former Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis drops from a tie to fifteenth.
Flyweight:
As expected, Henry Cejudo’s win over Jussier Formiga moved him up to Formiga’s number three contender spot. Formiga dropped to Cejudo’s old number five contender spot, with Ian McCall staying put at number four between them. Chris Cariaso, who didn’t fight this past weekend, dropped one spot to number fourteen.
Welterweight:
Neil Magny’s win over Kelvin Gastelum caused a lot of movement. Magny moved up four spots to number nine contender, dropping Tarec Saffiedine one spot to tenth. With Saffiedine’s ranking being largely due to his standing as Strikeforce’s last welterweight champion (he has no wins over ranked fighters), that’s all well and good. Gastelum went up two spots to number thirteen, as he had dropped to fifteenth due to his temporary banishment from the division. Rick Story (10 -> 11), Gunnar Nelson (11 -> 12), Thiago Alves (12 -> 14), and Jake Ellenberger (14 -> 15) all dropped, as well.
Middleweight:
Robert Whittaker and Gegard Mousasi flip-flopped, with Whittaker number number eight and Mousasi now number nine. Uriah Hall, their common opponent, is still number eleven.
