The UFC have reportedly tried to rebook the interim lightweight contest between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson for UFC 210 to no avail.
MMAFighting‘s Ariel Helwani took to social media to claim that the promotion has already attempted to pencil in Nurmagomedov and Ferguson for UFC 210. The fight was initially scheduled to take place at UFC 209 in Las Vegas last weekend, prior to weight-cutting problems forcing “The Eagle” out of the contest.
Despite issues preventing Nurmagomedov out of what would have been the most significant fight of his career, the Russian is not expected to be out of action for a long time. With UFC 210 scheduled for April 8th in Buffalo, New York, many feel that the fight could find a home on the second card in the state in less than six months.
According to Helwani, the UFC had attempted to add the much anticipated (albeit, three times cancelled) bout to the bill, but it appears that efforts have been fruitless. Furthermore, Helwani had reported that Ferguson and former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez were also touted for the card; this fight has also been scrapped. Alvarez is of course now set to square off against Dustin Poirier at UFC 211 on May 13th.
Still only 4 fights listed on the UFC 210 PPV graphic. UFC did try to book Ferguson-Khabib & Ferguson-Alvarez for it this week but no luck.

If Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will ever meet is uncertain, but fans expecting the #1 and #2 ranked lightweight fighters to face off soon look set to be disappointed for the foreseeable future.
