VIDEO: CM Punk’s Awkward, Intense Appearance On “Off The Record” (Full Interview)

CM Punk appeared in what turned out to be an awkward, intense interview with Michael Landsberg on TSN’s “Off The Record” on Thursday.

After opening the segment with a video package that had somewhat of a mocking tone to it when pointing out that Punk had yet to announce a debut date, opponent or any other specifics in terms of his UFC career, the interview, which you can watch in full via the YouTube player embedded above, quickly went downhill.

Punk grew tired of being asked WWE-related questions, and things only got worse when host Michael Landsberg brought up the fact that Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, still works for WWE.

“This is taken out of context. I didn’t mean to call anybody out,” said Punk in regards to a “shoot interview” he took part in on his friend Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast. “I simply told my story. I told the truth. I told people what happened to me.”

Punk continued, “It wasn’t to call anybody out. I’m a passionate guy who lost the passion to do his job. My intent wasn’t to call anybody out. I’ve had plenty of conversations with my wife about her working there. If she wants to work there, more power to her. We have separate careers. We’ll continue to have separate careers, and we’ll be stronger for it supporting each other.”

Landsberg followed up by pointing out his belief that Punk may not have called out WWE, but the story he told came off as a terrible reflection of the company.

“I just recanted my experiences,” said Punk. “Somehow, I would love to move on from that. I’m not shy about my past and I don’t regret anything, but I’m here to talk about UFC.”

When asked if he would follow in the footsteps of past WWE performers by returning to the company, Punk replied, “I don’t know because I can’t tell the future. but I know myself and I know what’s in here (pointed to his heart). And I have no desire to go back. I don’t think they have a desire to see me back, either. So, everyone is happy.”
