If Conor McGregor is “Notorious” for one thing in particular, it’s his Nostradamus-like ability to foresee the future and make predictions that are eerily dead on. Well, it looks like the Irish Superstar has outdone himself this time.
While McGregor was on his meteoric rise back in 2014, he spoke with Sports Joe and basically predicted that if he were to ever be matched up against Jose Aldo, the champion would back out before the fight could take place.
“If I’m being honest, I can see a fight between myself and Jose being scheduled for a stadium,” McGregor told SportsJoe.ie back in 2014. “Either Croke Park or the Aviva Stadium. Then I could see Jose pulling [out], but I could see Frankie stepping in.”
“I hope he trains smart, I hope he stays safe,” McGregor recently told Irish journalist Niall McGrath. “He’s pulled out of many contests on U.S. soil. He’s only fought his last few fights on Brazilian soil where there’s no commission out there. So, I hope he stays safe, I hope he stays clean, and we will see.”
As things stand now, Aldo’s status for the scheduled UFC 189 title fight with McGregor remains up in the air due to rib injuries the champion is currently dealing with. Whether or not the fight goes on as scheduled, is postponed, or cancelled altogether remains to be seen.
