Video: Dana White Says He Blames Himself For Rousey-Holm Scuffle At UFC 193 Weigh-Ins

UFC President Dana White is blaming himself for the wild scuffle that took place between UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and undefeated challenger Holly Holm at the official UFC 193 weigh-ins in Melbourne on Friday.

According to White, who was directly between Rousey and Holm on stage when the scuffle went down out of nowhere, it is up to him to make sure stuff like that doesn’t happen, and on Friday, White admits he didn’t do his job.

The UFC President spoke to the folks at Submission Radio soon after the scene at the weigh-ins and gave his account of what went down between Rousey and Holm.

“Ronda went after her and it seemed like they were jockeying for position, either on the outside or whatever and then Holly’s hand was here and then just, Holly just hit her. And then it was on,” White said “But there’s no – it’s my job to make sure that that doesn’t happen and that they don’t put their hands on each other, and apparently I didn’t do my job today.”

Of course when things like this happen, it seems like the absolute perfect scenario for a promoter, so there will always be those who feel that these situations are pre-planned. White made it clear that the UFC has never played those type of insincere promotional games.

“Well I can tell you this, that never happens. We never tell people to go do anything,” White said. “If you look at the falling outs I’ve had with fighters over the years, don’t you think that fighters would come out and say ‘they told us to go do this, and they tell us to go do that’? We don’t tell the fighters to do anything. There’s no push to sell tickets.

“Two women are selling over 50,000 tickets here, and this things trending as one of the biggest pay-per-views we’ve ever done, let alone this year. So yeah, there’s no push to go out and do anything fake. We don’t ever do things like that. And if we did, you’d have heard about it by now, believe me.”
