Video: Mark Munoz Delivers Emotional Retirement Speech After UFC Manila Victory

Following a dominant and exciting three-round unanimous decision victory over Luke Barnatt at UFC Fight Night 66 on Saturday morning in his home country of the Philippines, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Mark Munoz delivered an emotional and inspiring retirement speech.

“I remember watching super heroes,” Munoz said as he took his UFC gloves off for the last time. “I get to reenact that every time I step into the cage. I have a platform to talk about my life. I represent the Philippines, my family, the United States of America. With my anti-bullying campaign and a lot of things, I tried to be a role model for kids today. Thank you very much for the support and the trust in me.”

“We all have a story,” Munoz continued. “And mixed martial arts has been a story of my career. You might get hit by unforeseen things. You might have cancer, you might have diabetes, but life doesn’t stop there. You get back up and you keep competing to the best of your ability. And that’s what my career is all about.”

Munoz defeated Barnatt in his retirement fight by scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 after three exciting rounds, which saw “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” land several big shots throughout the fight.

The 37-year-old Munoz retires with a pro MMA record of 14-6.
