Pat Miletich was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame over the weekend, becoming only the 12th fighter to receive that honor.
‘The Croatian Sensation’ made his UFC debut back in 1998, winning the UFC 16 middleweight tournament and becoming the the first ever UFC Welterweight champion. He achieved an 8-2 record in the UFC and a 29-7-2 overall professional record.
He later created the Miletich Fighting System team, leading the likes of Matt Hughes, Tim Sylvia and Jens Pulver to UFC gold. In recent years, he has been a a respected color commentator, working for Strikeforce and AXS TV.
During Miletich’s induction, UFC President Dana White spoke about their falling out several years ago, which was a result of the promotion backing out of a promise that would have seen Miletich as one of the coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 3 (Ortiz vs. Shamrock). White admitted that he handled that situation badly and they’ve since buried the hatchet.
Miletich becomes the 12th person to enter the UFC’s Hall Of Fame, joining Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell, Charles “Mask” Lewis, Matt Hughes, Tito Ortiz, Forrest Griffin, and Stephan Bonnar.
