World Wrestling Entertainment Releases Statement Regarding Brock Lesnar’s WWE Status

Shortly after UFC made the announcement regarding Brock Lesnar fighting at their landmark UFC 200 event in July, World Wrestling Entertainment, where Lesnar currently works, made their own announcement.

WWE.com posted the following statement on Saturday evening, informing WWE fans that Lesnar will remain with the company, and will be returning to the ring at their annual SummerSlam pay-per-view event in August.

“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”

As we reported on Saturday evening, Lesnar’s opponent for UFC 200 is expected to be announced live on ESPN this coming Monday.

Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones 2 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship, Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar for the Interim UFC Featherweight Championship and Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne are currently featured on the UFC 200 pay-per-view card. Lesnar will also be on the main PPV card, fighting whoever UFC announces this Monday. Some rumored names going around include Josh Barnett, Shane Carwin and Mark Hunt.

UFC 200 is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Make sure to join us here at MMANews.com on 7/9 for the best UFC 200 live results coverage on the web!
