UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez is currently enjoying some time away from MMA at the moment.
But in a few short weeks, that will all change.
Alvarez, who won the belt last month with a finish of Rafael dos Anjos, plans to be in Las Vegas for UFC 202 to confront the winner of Conor McGregor-Nate Diaz. McGregor and Diaz meet in a welterweight affair, but both have either expressed interest in fighting at lightweight or have challenged for the belt before.
“I’m going to head out to Vegas for UFC 202 and try to start a fight with the winner of Conor and Diaz,” said Alvarez, during an interview on UFC Tonight. “These guys are a part of the circus and I want to be part of the circus.”
Following his win over dos Anjos, Alvarez asked for a bout with McGregor, saying it would be an “easy fight” after his recent battles vs. RDA, Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez.
